Iphone’s glass is easy to break!

September 9, 2007

Today as usual I put my iphone into my pocket. After I passed through a desk and accidentally hit with the desk’s corner (does not hit too much), I found out the iphone’s glass is broken.

Though I heard iphone’s glass is very hard, it turned out not to be the case. I will need to pay $250 to get only the glass fixed! Bummer!! That’s more than half the price!

Here are the picture for my broken iphone:

Femlab: an easy-to-use FEM packages

September 1, 2007

We got a 7-days trial license for Femlab last week. I started to evaluate it today. The result was pretty impressive.

It took me about an hour to install and an hour to finish its mini-course. The current version (3.3) has much improvement on its usability than the previous version (like 2.0) that I have evaluated. An unified IDE is used from the very beginging (The geometry modeling) to the plotting on the results. The only thing you need to worry about when using Femlab is your model itself and nothing on the mathematical details, which may worries a lot of scientists. The finite element solver is surprisingly fast even on my crappy macbook. The only thing I found inconvenient is its drawing tool which is too simple and too primitive.

Overall, Femlab is a very good package.

Workout refill me energy

August 30, 2007

I am getting heavier and heavier! So, on Monday, I decided to start my workout plan. On Tuesday, I bought the gym pass and also one year of locker. On Wednesday, I started my workout plan and run for half an hour. Today, I swam for 10 loops (Don’t know the distance for one loop. ) The strength of these workout has not reached my limit. I wanted to make my body get used to these workouts gradually.

I would expect these workouts would drain me of energy and hopefully by doing these, I would lose weight! On the contrary, to my surprise, the workouts refilled me energy! I usually get tired in the late afternoon and can not do much in the evening. But yesterday and today, I could focus and do much more things in the evening without feeling tired!
